we had a much needed (and very relaxing) three-day weekend. rewind a few days to friday afternoon at school when the last bell rang, i was highly anticipating a weekend at the shore, as its been about a month since we'e been there. ryan and i headed south around 4pm on friday as i said to him, "i wanna really enjoy this weekend...because before we know it, it will be over and we will be on our way to work on tuesday." he looked at me like i was nuts since the weekend had literally just started. needless to say, here we are on monday night, as i think about starting school and the upcoming week. these long weekends just aren't long enough! friday: when we arrived at the shore, ryan and i decided to spend the night at home making dinner (homemade pizza) and having a glass of wine. it turned out to be a really nice evening with my husband, as we weren't distracted by screens and simply enjoyed each other's company.  saturday: my sister-in-law, courtney, and her boyfriend, ryan, arrived at the house in long beach island in the morning. we chatted over a cup of coffee and each of us got our morning exercise in going on runs. then, ryan and i decided to take amber to the edwin b. forsythe national wildlife refuge, which is an 8-mile drive around quiet, pretty scenery.
after spending a few hours there, we headed home, got ready and went to our favorite place for happy hour, the old causeway steak & oyster house.  sunday: normally, sundays at the shore are all about waking up, cleaning, and packing the car. thankfully, we had a whole extra day at the shore this weekend! after we got up and worked out, we went to the beach to take amber on a 4 mile walk.
 as if we hadn't gotten enough fresh air yet, we stopped at the barnegat lighthouse at the other side of the island to snap a few photos and go on a quick walk.  our next activity was visiting the manafirkin brewing company, a local brewery that....allows dogs!!!  after the brewery, we all headed back to the house to make dinner (burgers) and enjoy a cocktail.  monday: after we woke up and cleaned up the house, we drove back up north. i grabbed lunch with one of my longest friends and then returned home to make soup and relax for the remainder of the day! i hope everyone had a safe, enjoyable long weekend! related posts:
