my fiance, ryan, his sister, courtney, her boyfriend, ryan (also known as ryan two), and i spent the weekend in upstate new york. ryan and courtney's aunt and uncle own a cottage on lake cayuga, which was where we called home.
when we arrived on friday night, we visited with their aunt at her home for a few minutes before grabbing a bite to eat at a bar called fargo, located in downtown aurora, a small, cute, hometown place. after dinner, we went to the cottage where we stayed, built a fire, and shared a bottle of wine at the edge of the lake. when we woke up saturday morning, i went for a quick run and ryan made a yummy breakfast of eggs and bacon. the four of us left around ten o'clock for the first winery, and visited three others after that. we all agreed that the highlight of all of the wineries was the pumpkin chucking we were able to do at the first one. i'd highly recommend it! (wineries: varick, goose watch, Buttonwood farm, and finger lakes cider house) after the wineries, we headed to see their cousin, lansing, play in his high school soccer game. his team won 7-0 and we cheered him on as he scored one of the goals! next, we went to the ithica beer co., where ryan's cousin and her husband work. they were hosting a hoptober festival. we enjoyed seasonal beers, german-inspired food, and watched ryan, ryan two, and their aunt compete in a beer-stein holding competition. unfortunately, none of them left victorious. the sun set and we headed back to the cottage for another lake-side fire and glass of wine. we headed back to our homes in new jersey on sunday morning to finish out the weekend. hope everyone else had a wonderful, relaxing weekend as well!
