Last summer, my mother treated my sister and I to a spa treatment. After spending the fastest hours of our lives in the session, we wandered around the spa shop, where tons of overpriced body products were being sold. Annie and I sampled almost everything and they managed to convince me to buy one $20 product, which, in my mind, was restraint on my part.
After we got home, I started researching ways to make body scrub without spending the huge pay increase because it's simply from a spa. We found a bunch of "recipes", but the one here goes a little like this:
1. Grab a mason jar (or any kind of jar, really. Just make sure the lip closes nice and tight!)
2. Scoop in brown sugar, olive oil, cocoa, and vanilla. I'm not sure of measurements, but you'll want the consistency to be thicker than mud. Also, make sure you only use a little bit of cocoa - that stuff goes a LONG way! (If you don't have brown sugar, regular sugar works fine as well.)
3. Make sure it's total stirred up! Screw on the lid.
4. I tied this cute little twine around it to give it more of a rustic feel. And there you go!
My only suggestion would be to use this in the shower! If you're using it at a regular sink, the water could splash leaving your things brownish from the cocoa.
Ultimately, it smells WONDERFUL, feels great, and costs you practically nothing!
(Try other scents and combinations. Later that day, we tried one using coffee!)
